Learn from their mistakes, ask for advice, and always follow up with your own research. After all, they may be the person to get you started on the right track.

Never look past networking. You will want to build a steady foundation for your business by getting the word out. Simple things like business cards, and phone calls can go a long way. Try to stay on top of the web by building a user friendly web site, and blog. Keep it updated with your latest projects, and products.
